If you want to check up on some Cypriot wines, try calling into the CO-OP as they stock a couple...
Also look for a Greek wine (spotted in Tescos and Asda) called Mavrodaphne De Patras (might say Mavrodaphne OF Patras on some bottles)
we even bought a "carton" of medium sweet redwine (1 litre for about £2 English) and it was better than the stuff we pay 5-10 a bottle back home...
Beer (I prefer Leon) and brandy sour!
Don't hold back on asking for the red wine to be chilled in an ice bucket! Cyprus room temperature is just too warm. Only in really good restaurants do they store it at a cool temperature.
Mark ..Leon is that beer?
Diane... there's also Sangria in CYP 1.00 cartons, but I find that too sweet. I've never asked for it in a bar, but I know lots of bars serve the carton wine by the glass at a big profit.
