How bad is the weather in late dec early jan.Never been to poland before but on reading up on this forum it sounds truly amazing, would love to give it a try but we are limited to certain times of the year when we can go.
How expensive would it be hotel 2 or 3 star for maybe 8 days or so.Fancy kracow(think thats the spelling) and use that has a base.

We've just got a good deal with http://www.poland4u.com/ £130 for 2 for 4 nights B&B. The hotel is right near the square but if your not bothered about walking 20mins or so to the square you could get cheaper.
There's lots of websites out there with accommodation in Poland just do a search on Google ie "Krakow accommodation"

The weather in late December through to January can be bitterly cold but Krakow in the snow is also very beautiful.
There is still prebty to do - museums, churches, galleries, bars and restaurants - even if the weather is bad.
As for accomodation goes we always stay (we've been 4 times and are currently planning our 5th trip!)a t a Hotel called Wit Stwosz which is in an ideal location just a short walk - less than 5 mins - from the Market Square. It's not luxurious but is comfy, friendly and pretty cheap, their website is http://www.wit-stwosz.com.pl. A doube is 85 euro (£58.00) per room per night.

We went to Warsaw last October for 4 days. For 2 of them it was very cold and for the other 2 I walked about in a jumper. We had a special deal with Raddisson SAS £120 for 3 nights. It was fantastic, pool & gym etc. Food and drink was expensive but it was great as a base. We booked with Hotelspoland.com
Thankyou mightywease sounds wonderful we are hoping to go later in the year, our son is hoping to move over there and do a college degree so we might be able to go together see what happens,
