Myself and my partner are off to Turkey for the first time on the 6th for a week we are getting SC but allocated on arrivel guarenteed 3 star ...
does anyone know which resorts we would likely end up we are flying into Bodrum ... and has anyone any experaince on AOA travel?
also what essentials would i need to take with me ..
or is there anything that you just would not leave home without ? ...
thanks for your help in advance xx
Hope you have a fab holiday
If you fly into Bodrum airport, I think you're most likely to be placed in Bodrum itself, Gumbet or maybe Bitez. There are other smaller resorts around the Bodrum peninsula (such as Ortakent, Yalikavak and Torba) but they aren't as popular with British tour operators, so I don't really think you'd be placed somewhere like that.
Essentials wise... I'm not sure I'd call anything essential, except for the obvious first aid stuff and some insect repellent!

Wherever you end up on the peninsula you will have a great time - everywhere is within reasonable distance for visiting. Take an open mind, a sense of humour and loads of sun cream! Have a great time.
i have been to bodrum many times[have home there] its easy to get around if no car, in centre of bodrum you have the dolmus station [buses that run all round local area about2 ytl they have destination on front ,just get in and call out stop please when you want to get off. they run till about 3 am in summer, but check to be sure
Wherever you end up i'm sure you will have a great time, however first times to Turkey can be a little put off by over zealous salesmen at restaurants / shops etc.. a polite no thankyou and a smile works very well.
I am sure you will end up in a market or something, remember to haggle and not accept the prices first offered, knock 60 % off what they are asking and go from there, settle on about 50 or 60 % of first asking price, have a great time.

p.s. stay away from change bureau's, tend to charge commision
