While i am there i will try to find out if Steve knows anything about him having to shut over New Year, i do believe Wild Bills is normally the only bar open !!! Will post any news on here when i return
Was in Floyds bar a few times last week for an afternoon refresher (baggies fan), seems ages ago now I'm back home and hard at work saving for the next hol. We'll be there again xmas as we're staying a couple of mins walk or a 10 min stagger away. Can't wait, didn't somebody fall thro into the kitchen area in wildbills last year?
The missus mentioned talking to you daz. It was our mate Dave who fell into the kitchen, sadly now returned to the UK, but I will mention his fame has spread far and wide!
Did he just drop in for a bite to eat ?
Sagres...
Fancy Albufeira in Sep but does anyone know if the construction/road work has finished in the old town? Not been to albufeira before but hear the 'strip' is the best place for lively nightlife, is this affected also?
The construction will be finished. The Old Town and the strip are both lively, the Strip is really for those under 21 at night - loud music in most bars etc - the Old Town more a mixed crowd with some loud places, some more quiet. Plenty of street entertainment in the Old Town. For value for money, get off the beaten track a bit and search around.
Note to diydaz and Algarveaddik it is a small world as I was in Wild Bills last New Years Eve and the year before. The last year the crowds were pushing past you all the time outside and inside was just as bad, as non customers pushed the kids to one side to go the toilet, I would have stood by the door and charged them and give the profits to charity, just before midnight we went on the roof of the Gold Spot to watch the fireworks. Sad to say we have not booked flights to go this year.
Can you tell me if Bravo's restaurant is back open?
Anybody been to Albuifeira in the last week or so, square completely finished?
cheers
Mick
ps: Heading over for a week on the 23rd of September, can't wait!
But if you like perfect steak, and consistent quality and service, you must go to Fabios in the Cerro Branco area.
how far from Albuifeira is that?
It's in town Mick. If you go up the steps from Fisherman's beach, and turn left at the roundabout - heading towards the Town Hall - it's the third turning on the left, about a five minute walk from the roundabout. It is well signposted. Or you could get a cab if you don't fancy the climb, which will cost less than 4 euros.
Message to dubmick, I can recommend Fabios the phone number is 289 512 757 and the address is Rua Fernao de Magalhaes, Lote21, Loja E - Cerro da Alagoa, Albufeira. Turn left up the hill and turn left again 50 yards ( in case your over 21) on the right.
thanks guys, I am heading out next Saturday and I will definitely check out Fabio's!!
Im going out next Thursday, is the work finished then? was a mess in April!
hi there got home 18th and the square is all finished. Looking smart compared to the building site when i was there in june. Must say though i prefered the older version had more atmosphere
anyone got any pics of the new square?
ill take some pictures next week when i go, would be good if someone could post up some pics before then though?
I have just come back from a week in albufeira, fantastic weather, great time, the work is almost finished, the escaltors are in, the old town square is ok, as there is entertainment there every night, you have to see the puppet guy
