Hi wilma9000. If i remember correctly, the Karbel Beach Hotel is opposite the Blue Star Hotel (Where i usually stay). Just a two minute walk to the beach. I've never been inside, but it looks nice from the outside. I beleive they have just 30 rooms?. Karbel hotel is much bigger (130 rooms) and is about ten minutes walk away from the beach. In my humble opinion, Small is better in Olu Deniz. hope this helps. :)

I stayed at the Karbel Sun a few years ago - lovely little hotel with well maintained pool & gardens and the usual friendly staff - Directly across the road was another hotel which was almost identical and i thought was the Karbel beach but looking the above posts maybe not - But it was def a Karbel :?

I think maybe the 2 hotels across the road from each other are known as one ie Karbel Sun/Karbel hotel - and Karbel beach is down the road nearer the beach.

Know there was def not 130 rooms in the Karbel Sun where we stayed so this would make sense - Have i confused everyone... sorry :?

I've booked for the Hotel Karbel and every review i can find seems to say the same thing.. excellent on all accounts but bedrooms are very small.
I think there are 3 properties called Karbel in Olu from what I can make out. Hotel Karbel, Karbel Beach and the Karbel Sun. I'm confused because the brochures print differing names too. can anyone clarify it?

Hi,

Yes these are 3 different hotels. Go to http://www.karbelhotel.com for Karbel Hotel, http://www.karbelhotel.com/beach.htm for Karbel Beach and http://www.karbelsun.com for Karbel Sun. Confusing isn't it?

Hi Zoe I stayed here last August and you could'nt have picked a better hotel in my opinion. It's located at the top of the main drag. So that's about 5-8 minutes walk away from the main beach and 15 minutes walk to the actual blue lagoon (it all depends on how fast you walk mind you).
Below the hotel there is the Karbel supermarket where you can buy literally anything (including alcohol). The main drag to the beach is lined with bars and restaurants and there's plenty of choice along the front too. The Karbel has it's own bar and restaurant. The restaurant serves very good food and last year they were doing a deal. If you bought 3 evening meal vouchers you got one free. Under 12's also ate free.
The hotel is away from any excessive noise too. The hotel staff are very friendly and efficient and Wendy the FC rep was excellent.
Hope this helps.

Hey Laurance

Thanks for the info.
We stayed at the Marcan last year, and are worried that we won't find anywhere with as nice a staff! But saying that I have never been disappointed in Turkiye with the staff at the hotels/bars.
What is the bar like at Karbel Beach? Is it lively or more a bar to go to before you go out?

Thanks
Zoe

We stayed at the Hotel Karbel which is at the top end of the main street and right next door to Karbel Sun. Both these hotels were lovely the Hotel Karbel being the biggest (130 rooms). The Karbel Beach is a much smaller hotel set in the centre of the resort with only 30 rooms. We checked it out as ours was overbooked and they wanted to move some of our party there. All that I can tell you is that it is tiny and extremely quiet. There is no entertainment and a very small pool. I should imagine that if you are a "beach person" that this would be brilliant for you. If you do want entertainment at night you have to go out, no choice. We spent most of our evenings in the resort itself, restaurants and bars. But when we got back to our hotel there was always a lively atmosphere. Everyone's different and has alternative expectations. The Karbel Beach would not be my choice, but the whole resort is so lovely I would just go and enjoy whats on offer!

Just a short note of intrest to anyone who is thinking of booking the Hotel Karbel, what a very nice hotel, and may I also point out the staff where polite and very friendly, the hotel I found was also very clean, in all area's, from the rooms to the bars and also the dining area. The only thing that we did not like was the pool area, which was packed, and space was at a premium, so much so, that after a couple of days a board went up poolside requesting guest's not to reserve sun lounges, as people where complaining that they could not get a lounger at mid/late morning, hence then the waiters taking off the towels that where layed down at the early part of the morning, to which I did see one of the guests arguing with a waiter for removing his towel, saying that he had only gone to the reception. I am of the opinion that the congestion around the pool area has developed over the years, and this due to the fact that the owners have extended the complex, and they have not given any thought as to where the the extra bodies are going to fit in and around the pool area, such a shame as it is a nice hotel. My wife and myself after a few days had enough of the sardine effect and decided to spend the rest of our holiday at other hotels pools or on the beach ("Billy's Beach" excellent he will pick you up, and drop you back at the hotel). So be aware, if you like to laze around the pool in piece and quiet this hotel may not be for you, although I will make a point in saying it may well be different in a few weeks time when all the children are back at school.
