I remember it well.
Vinnie's band played at my wedding when I got married to my late wife in Malta, and I remember him playing in what was Victoria square on a sunday when Valletta was the place to be seen, all the Maltese youth used to promanade up and down Kingsway. I see now that they have introduced some evening entertainment for Valletta on 4 friday evenings to encourage people to make it more lively in the evenings.

Talking of things being knocked down,i see the Crowne Plaza - Holiday Inn,Sliema has been sold,so more development in Sliema to come
What a wonderful place the internet is! Found your info about the Crowne Plaza interesting so decided to do some searching and found these two articles.
I didn't know that it was Govt/Air Malta owned property and that the Govt is selling off as much as possible! It also looks like they might build that plaza that someone mentioned........either that or a 16 storey block of flats!

Can also inform you that the area known as St Annes Square in Sliema, where the Magic Kiosk is,due to be re- developed. In fact the lease on the Kiosk is up in 2 yrs time. There will be a pedestrian area in the location, the roads will be re- routed etc etc.
And no i don,t work for the Government Just keep in touch with my friends
Looks like there will be some big changes afoot in the next couple of years then and certainly not a good place to stay for your hols with all that building work going on!
I'm looking forward to the new park in St julians being finished and the new road junction, I think it's going to be a roundabout - it's a nightmare queuing at the lights when I have to take the kids to school at 8.30am!
Ciao
Susan
