Heading off to Del Sol for first visit to this Costa and don't know the area at all.
We are staying at Los Piramides in Feungirola and daughter and b/f (trying to do their 'independant' bit) are at the Holiday Palace, which I believe is the Torremuelle area.
The brochure says 7km from centre Benelmedena, 5km from Arroyo de la Meil and 1.5km from Los Boliches.
What will the best public transport links be?? The bus? Is there convenient stops near each accomodation? or will taxis be easier. I forsee a lot of backwards and forwarding!!!
Do we have to do anything to set up our mobile phones so that we are only paying local call rates?
Also can anyone recommend a goods sports bar near Los Piramides where we can watch the Rugby League Challenge Cup Final on Sat 26th Aug. Somewhere with a good atmosphere and possibly a bit of banter with other RL fans.
Cheers
Carvajal rail station is closer, then, but no bargain. I reckon it's a good 18-minute walk away, and no fun in the heat.
Better news is that there is a bus stop at the "Elephant" roundabout, where Holiday Village is situated. There is a good service from Fuengirola (see link), with the Benalmadena Costa bus you'll take costing a set 1.20 euros single, however long you travel on it.
From the bus station to Holiday Village is less than 10 minutes.
No help with mobile phones, sorry, but can tell you that when you head out the main door at Piramides reception, a 20-second walk (right) will take you to two English bars that screen live sport from the UK.
Hope this helps. Have a great holiday. Tony.

I think you have to buy a local sim card to pay local rates.
If you are both using mobile phones that you have taken to Spain from the UK, the person making the call will pay for an international call to the UK and the person receiving the call will pay for an incoming call from the UK. The call will be routed via the UK even if you are both standing next to each other !
ys if you uk mobile your credit will go in no time, better off getting a spanish chip,as said,i used £10 in 1 day on my mobile in June, mainly texting back and forth the apartment, your call etc has to go back to the uk then to Spain on our phone chip
The easiset option for you is once the phones are unlocked and you arrive in Spain, find a local shop such as vodafone ( expensive though) and just buy a pay as you go sim card.
There are good shops but if you have not been before then it is really pointless trying to give you directions!!
You can buy pay as you go cards on the internet before you leave so that you are prepared but I cannot remember any names as I have never done this.
Many thanks for the info.
