In Slovenija - Portoroz and Lake Bled - but we 'did' it ourselves! No problems and an easy transfer (own car).
We have done two centre holidays in Tenerife more than once which we have booked DIY. Never any problems but then as the previous post states we always make sure we have a hire car. It means we can leave our first resort earlyish to go and check in at the second, but if the rooms are not ready we just leave our cases with them and go out for the day as normal.

All our main holidays are two or three centred, makes for a much more varied holiday...its almost like having more than one holiday.
As others have said, it gives you some variety in where you go. The only possible downside is if you love the first week and hate the second or vice versa - wish you'd gone to one or the other for a full two weeks. You take that chance anywhere you visit though.
We book a week in Sri Lanka then a week in the Maldives but another common one was 4 days in Dubai and then 10 in the Maldives/
Kuala Lumpur - Pangkor - Penang - Singapore
It's a good way of seeing a lot in two-three weeks.
1 night Dalaman, 3 Nights Istanbul, 10 nights in a resort of your choice... we chose Dalyan.... all arranged by Thomas Cook including internal flights, and we got upgraded to Business Class on the Turkey domestic flights.
St. Lucia and Barbados 6 years ago. Going back to St. Lucia next year!
No regrets on any of these, much better than spending all the time in one location.
Tip for 2 center holidays, pack a case for each week, so that you don't have to repack before moving on.
