hi
has anyone been to the Saturday market if so what is it like, whaat does it sell and what time does it finish
thanks a lot
Unless things have changed since last year, the Lagos Saturday market is held on the first Saturday of each month.Apart from the clothes stalls(which are near the bus station virtually every day)there are stalls selling livestock ( chickens, geese etc.) and local produce such as honey, cheese and vegetables.Whilst some of the displays are quite large with several people serving,it's also not unusual to see,for instance,an old lady with a bucketful of eggs. As for the closing time, I'm uncertain but it starts early morning and,as I said, some of the sellers only have a small quantity of goods to sell,so I would suggest you try to get there early rather than later.
I think the market Sagres is refering to, (when he speaks of vegetables fruit, honey a bit of small livestock) is held every Saturday morning very close to the bus station. The monthly market as Sagres quite rightly says is on the first Saturday of each month is held on the Bullring sight. There is a lot of clothes, shoes, general hardware and TAT. From my male aspect its interesting for watching people but thats all.
Quite agree;the weekly market is more interesting and a lot closer to the bars !!
Slightly away from the subject Sagres but why does your joining date say June 2005?I know you have been on this forum for a lot longer than that. Mine says Feb 2005 and I know I have been a member a fair bit longer than that.
To be perfectly honest,I'm not sure when I joined the forum but I would have thought that June 2005 was somewhere about right. As they say,"time flies when you're having fun "
