:D Thanks for the hints so far & keep them coming! We're especially interested in places where we can try local food rather than just the standard British / international offerings.

Cheers !

It may be worth tryoing Cambrils too. My friend and I went there last week and a lot of the cafe's were typical catalan cafe's. I tried the calamres and it was so fresh compared to the rubber bands you get here. My friend had a salad which looked gorgeous too. It was lovely to sit opposite the harbour watching the boats coming and going too.

I read this thread before i went to Salou and it came in useful.
I got home yesterday.
For what its worth here are my opinions.

The Guinness Tavern
Took us till the last night to find it as it is slighty off the beaten track.
To find it get a Taxi to the Hotel Caspel.
Glad we did find it as the food was lovely which made up for the portions being slighty on the small side and it costing a couple of Euros more in price than other eateries.
Nice seating area outside.
Definately recommend going here to enjoy good tasty food.

The Vines
Another good place to eat.
My wife enjoyed it the most so we ate there 3 times.
They did an excellant 3 course Xmas Dinner for 12 Euros which was very tasty.
TV Screens showing English Programmes there also.
We watched the Big Brother Final Night there.

Buddies and Co
It was posted that the portions there are big and they are.
I got a BBQ Rack of ribs which was enormous.
Probably 1 of the best indoor seating areas inside as well.

The Robin Hood
Not 1 i would recommend.
The Spanish Owner walks round with a face like a smacked bum.
The food was poor.
The tables had little room which is bad when there are 4 of you eating.
The TV's were very loud which isnt nice whilst eating and then Karoke started which is worse.

Chinese Buffets.
There are numourous in Salou.
The 1 we went to had good and bad points.
The food wasnt changed often enough in my opinion meaning some of the dishes went cold.
That said it was tasty and very filling for 8.80 Euros each.

The Old Brown Cow
I enjoyed my meal here.
Although my wife got the veg with her meal which was poor so i recommend you chose the Salad option.

The Boomerang
Very large spacious resturant but again the food was not very good.

Grannies Kitchen
We ordered the Steak Pies in which the meat was very Fatty but everything else was very nice.
Strawberry Cheesecake desert was excellent.
Would recommend but dont get the Steak Pie.

The Orient Express.
3 Course Meal for just under 9 Euros Each made this the Best Value place to eat.
Portions are slightly smaller but i would go there again.

The Fox and Hounds
I used this place as my snack during the day place.
Nice Bacon and Sausage sarnies using English bread (Spanish Bread is awful ).
Nice Omlettes
Nice friendly service.

The Titanic Bar
A fav with my kids.
Good selection of meals.
Not startling quality but good enough.
Stick around after your meal the entertainment is excellant

Linda's Bar
Nice lady working there who was very helpfull.
Food was middle of the road.
6/10
