Hi

would suggest staying in Xlendi (Gozo) - Xlendi is the base for a number of dive centres - as for accomodation, are you after hotel, apartment or farm house ? If hotel, St Patricks in Xlendi is very convenient for divers

below are some pages on diving in Gozo, incl links to many of the dive centres

thanks for your reply mark and the links. If we were talking our main 2 weeks in the summer holiday we would usually go for an A/I hotel/beach based holiday but i have the feeling Malta/gozo does not cater for that type of thing so we would be open to suggestions as to what would be the most cost effective for the 5 of us. we have boys of 16,14 and 10 but this would be an extra holiday probably just a week maybe End oct but not sure what the weather would be like then. again not knowing a lot about Malta/Gozo is it expensive to eat out. Myself and youngest son are not divers (as yet) although my youngest son is hoping to do his open water when we go to Sharm at easter so somewhere that has the usual family based hotel amenities i.e pool and maybe little entertainment would be good but again open to all suggestions for something different.

I think September/October is the best time of year to be in Gozo - sea still warm, and fairly quiet. I believe St Patricks do HB and FB, but there are several restaurants within a few minutes walk of the hotel - eating out - (in Maltese £ - MTL1 = £1.6, so 1.50 is about UK£2.50)
pizza 1.50-2.50
main course 2.50-5.00
beer 50c

if you have any specific questions about St Patricks, email the manager, Joe Camilleri, on stpatricks@waldonet.net.mt - mention Mark from Gozo SPCA, and I'm sure he will be very helpful (he's the chairman of Gozo SPCA, and I help out with fundraising)

my fault - his new email address is

stpatricks@vjborg.com

(for those in the "know", yes vjborg is Victor Borg who owns Ta Cenc - he also owns St Patricks)
