Several people in front of us had to pay last week. One had to pay 40 (not sure if it was Lira/pounds or euro's) they were 6 kilos over. We were very nervous. We had 3 cases but as we put the first 2 on the attendant stopped to talk to a colleague and the first case fell off before the third went on so our total was 44 kilos (not!) Whew

Crikey people must be buying some serious amounts of "designer" gear while there. You would actually think that by the time you swopped all your full bottles of shower gel/shampoo/sun tanl lotion/bacon etc for the few things you buy while on holiday you would still be lighter on the way back.

ps. i was pulled once on our way home . not for excess baggage but the x ray machine you have to go through when you get to Dalaman. I had wraped a brass spice jar thingy into my dirty washing case(thought it would look nice in my kitchen ) to keep it safe. Well the x ray machine clocked it immediately, the security guards were all over my case and asked me to open it right there in front of everyone waiting behind us. most embarrassing. since then i never put anything in my dirty washing case except that and all underwear is packed in a seperate bag

iv never been stopped and asked about T-Shirts entering the UK,

On the way out year before last I set the whole kit and caboodle off and they had explosive sniffer equipment round my hold all bag and everything - all because I'l forgotten about one of my Eternal Bow knives from a spring picnic buried deep in a pocket I could have collected that poor solitary knife on the way back for about £15 but I gave it a miss.

Although we shifted a fair amount of sun cream and shower gel my 16yr old must use handfulls cos I had to go out and by everything including conditioner on the penultimate day Grrrrrr so I was back to square one - weight wise with that. It's a good job they don't weigh you in and out otherwise I would have had to pay serious excess baggage

When my ex son-in-law was a baby, his dad was in the RAF, and they lived at various places around the world. They said that they used to wrap stuff they had to pay duty on inside the baby`s dirty nappies, no-one ever looked there! Wonder why?
