Just 4 more sleeps and we're off to Cala Millor.
It's been about 17-18 years since I was last there and I can't wait, although I understand the resort has changed quite a bit.
We're staying in the Midas Appartments as my parents know Jim the owner. We will probably spend most of our time at the Hotel Veronica.
Has anyone got any recent weather reports as we're hoping the sun is gonna shine.
Weather while we were there was the worst we've ever known for cloud clover and rain but that said it didn't inconvenience us too much and the cloud cover at least meant it was cooler and we still got cracking tans. They said the fortnight before we got there it had got up to 112 degrees and you just couldn't move or breathe - I'm glad we had our weather as I wouldn't fancy it being that hot.
Anyway - have a fab holiday - you'll see a HUGE difference in the place - the harbour has changed dramatically in the last 12 months so you'll see a massive difference - lots more hotels and apartments for a start.
If you go to Cheers say Hi to Kev from the "Furniture Movers"
I really hope it doesn't rain!
Was it warm enough to sit by the pool or on the beach? I'm panicing now - I knew Sept would be cooler but my idea of lolling around the pool all day has vanished. Please reassure me!!!
We will probably be in the British Bulldog most evenings as we know Satu quite well.
Cheers
Vicky
On the really overcast days it wasn't worth going to the pool as the kids said the water was too cold so we went to beach and they had a great time. Of course you still tan over there even if it's cloudy and I still came back a really nice colour.
I think we were just unlucky with the weather - as I say we've never known it that bad but the rain was literally just showers apart from the one thunderstorm and soon dried up.
You'll have a FAB time!
I really an getting excited now. It's my fiance's birthday the day we arrive and our first holiday together so I'm hoping it will be really special.
What's the latest on hand luggage? Are they really strict with the bag sizes? We're flying from Doncaster and the bag I planned to use is slightly bigger than the dimensions they are stating as maximums?
weather still warm but can be overcast somedays
occassional rain that doesnt last long
getting cooler in early hours
resort quieting down as families returned home for new school year
if you are to do any trips, PIRATES is a must....expensive and in Magaluf but absolutely fantastic!!....German tour offices wont do it, so see a local Thompson rep and ask to join their party like we did......gets filled up fast.
enjoy.....................

Today at 9.45 it is 25 degrees. Will probably go up to about 30 ish. Very beachy weather!
I ain't even packed yet and have started to flap!!!!! Much to the amusement of my DH who is so laid back he's almost horizontal.
Thanks for the weather reports. I can't wait to hit the beach or the pool at Veronica.
We would love to do the Pirates trip. I went years ago when staying in Magaluf. Are the trips to the afternoon show or the evening show?
Did Kev make the cake for your daughter and did she have a fab birthday?
Looking forward to hearing all about your holiday.
Iluvspain - ooooh not long now you lucky thing! The restrictions are pretty much down to individual airlines I think. There's no restrictions coming back thru' Palma other than no toiletries, bottled drinks etc - at least there wasn't when we came back on the 19th.
Have a FAB holiday! Happy packing!
Tis x
there is an adults night version as well....
if you can, you want to be in sir francis drakes gang!!

hola , we visit cala millor every year and we find it an excellent holiday destination , the weather and people are the best , and also the beach , which is very clean , the restaraunts are very good (if u like indian food , the kashmir balti is top class) , and the bars are very welcoming and freindly, in particular" ad weatherspoons ",which is by far the best bar in the resort , it has the most freindly staff (allan diane and felipe ) you could wish for , the food is great and the drinks are very well priced , it also caters well for children , with numerous things to keep them occupied , ad weatherspoons is directly opposite cheers bar , which we (and our freinds who live in cala millor) find very tacky and second rate , the food is of a low standard , and the staff are very poor , one in particular is stefan (or steven) , who tends to offer "free this and free that" to get you in the bar , only to fail miserabely , anyway , on the whole this is a great resort and we will be visiting for many years to come. adios , john julie and family
Hi Tis. Is this the same Cheers bar with Kev
Although my wife and I are very good friends of both Alan & Di at Weatherspoons and also Stefan at Cheers, we would not try to influence people to use one bar or the other, simply suggest they try both and make up their own minds.
Running a bar in a resort like Cala Millor is not easy and the staff in each one will do whatever they can to encourage the holiday makers into their 'territory'. Whether we like it or not they will often run other bars down to their customers in order to retain custom.
Go with an open mind and try to avoid the politics between the bars.
We have generally found that the best bars do not give an opinion about anyone else or if they do it is to recommend!
Martin
Seeing as how Weatherspoons seem to have tried to grab every idea Kev has ever had (including the kids entertainment ideas) that's the best laugh I've had in ages!
I'm not going to get into a "My bar's better than your bar" thing (we eat out at various other bars and are not Cheers exclusive) but what I will say in Cheers defence here is that Kev's been there for 19 years (Weatherspoons for 3 years tops) and Cheers has built up a fantastic reputation with a business who's customers return year after year after year and as one of those customers I can catagorically state that the food is NOT of a low standard - that's complete and utter TOSH!
We've not had a bad meal in there yet and you only have to walk along at night to see which bar is more popular - that's down to food, service and the warm welcome, the same can be said for a lot of bars that we haven't even tried yet despite holidaying there every year!
We were going to give Weatherspoons a try this year on Martin's recommendation but we witnessed Allan's (Weatherspoons) loutish behaviour one evening when he stormed across the road and had a go at Kev in front of a bar packed full of customers and I was less than impressed.
The only thing I can think of is he doesn't like the fact that Cheers is a more popular choice with holidaymakers!!!!!!!
Anyway, as Martin says peeps are more than capable of making up their own minds and can do without JJJC's character assassination of the whole of Kev's business
Tis
hello , this is a reply to tis , firstly , it was not an intentional character asassination on anybody , it was only my personal opinion , which i am entitled to , just as you are. each person is free to make their own decisions as to where they eat/drink and so on, i was merely commenting on the good sevice and freindliness of weatherspoons, something which i am afraid was lacking in cheers bar , but like i said , its only my opinion , and one which i stand by, no hard feelings.
Just a reminder
