If you are staying at the hotel there is no charge for the sunbeds. Not sure if there is for a mattress as we did not bother. Depends on the amount of people in the Gergana and Albena Beach but some days they were very close together and could not always get an umbrella. it was extremely hot when we were there so needed some shade. Ideally at the peak of the season each hotel would have there own pool, but then again you are very close to the sea, unless like my youngest you have a fish phobia..... (don't ask)!

hi nels thanks for that. it says on the first choice website sunbeds are payable locally but maybe they mean matresses. Do you think the pool isn't big enough for both hotels then? hope it isn't too busy when we go!

Hi Claireg, we were there mid August, no choice as I teach, on when I take my hols and it was only the latter part of the week that the pool and surrounding area got really busy so you should be fine. Have a great time.

My wife is there NOW I've stopped at home for peace quiet and fishing

The only thing she has said so far is that it is not as cheap to eat out as she though but has enjoyed what she has had and no complaints of funny tummy

madcaravanner your wife may find it cheaper to go to the other end of the resort to eat. Albena is possibly the most expensive of the resorts, but I did not think that it was excessive, and a lot cheaper than Cyprus last year! I suppose it really depends on what she was told before she went but when we ate in the resort we were given huge portions that were a lot cheaper than when we occasionally eat out here. I should hope that her tummy was fine, never had a problem in Bulgaria, and we have eaten in a variety of places, not just in resorts, personally I think that its the people that will only eat chicken and chips and drink too much, that get a dicky tum, if you muck in, well not literally, all will be fine. Hope she continues enjoying herself.
