Hello Fellow Goa Lovers.
My wife and I are visiting Goa 15th October for 2 weeks (3rd time in 12 months!!) The only place I have not taken my wife is the Anjuna(Angina) market or even the Night markets. Will they be open so early in the season?
Appreciate your replies as always.
Steve
Oh Steve I'm Sorry about the PM I sent I meant Angina as a laugh The hubby and I call it Angina Market as in ....it gives you a heart attack because it's so manic and busy compared to the lovely quiet beaches of the south. sorry again.
Anjuna should be open but last season it was early November before Mackies started and Ingos was much later. On the subject of Ingos, I noted a report some time ago that Ingo and his wife had won an appeal against their deportation so mabey after all there will be an Ingo market again this season, perhaps someone could clarify this, as it was on and off several times last season Alan
Last year we stayed in Calangute and went to the market at Anjuna and thought it was absolutely brilliant, this year we will be in Candolim and will definitely be going to Anjuna but can someone tell me how far it is to the markets at Ingos and Mapusa from Candolim and the approx. taxi fare please
My wife always goes to Anjuna after 3pm as it is cooler and much quieter and less frantic. She claims that the prices are better as well.
The easiest way to get to the market at Mapusa is by local bus. The bus station is next to the market, which I think is a local market every day and a tourist market on Fridays. The bus fare is only a few rups, and the service is quite frequent. Its possible to catch a boat to Anjuna from Baga/Calangute beach, Tut tut, or walk, from Arpora it takes about an hour going up by Sun Village, across the fields and stopping off for a quick one at the German Bakery. You can always get a bus back from Anjuna centre (bit further up beach from Mrkt)
