We normally use car hire companies that have no excess. However it would seem that these are few and far between at Barcelona Aiport. We have booked with Hertz but cetainly will not be taking out their excess waiver top up.
A couple of years back we took out an annual policy with Insurance4CarHire which covers the excess and other things such as tyres and windscreens. We did not have to claim so don't know how good they are.
We are considering doing the same thing again - it costs £51 for a year and covers all named drivers. Much cheaper than excess waiver top up at point of rental. It certainly means peace of mind too.
Has anybody had any experience of the above company?
Pippa
