Didn't know where to post this, but seeing as we all see the giant black bull perched on the hillside on the way into Benidorm from the airport, then here seems a good place.
I found out last week, something that I never knew before......
I read that the black bull that we all associate as the symbol of Spain started out by being message/advertising boards placed near the roadside for a famous Spanish company called Osbourne (who make brandy and sherry) the black bull is the trademark of Osbourne .....they varied in size and in time the messages ceased to be posted under the bulls.
The black bull had by then been "adopted" as a symbol of Spain and the Spanish Government took over the "upkeep" of the "bulls".
They are now all a standard 34 feet in height and scattered around Spain and the property of the Spanish Government.
So, whilst this is useless info now you know when you see the bull on your way into Benidorm.....or anywhere else for that matter

A bit more useless info
What a load of Bullocks!!!!
I was always aware that the original intention of the black bull sign was to advertise a certain brand of liquer.
