They price matched a cheaper lesser known competitor and we had a car through Avis at the airport. We paid £114 for 1 week Clio type car in Oct. if that helps for comparisons and they did not charge for an additional driver in the deal.
WE were wondering if it would be possible to take a taxi from the airport (don't know which one yet - probably Heraklion) to the villa (Rethymnon) and have the hire car delivered to the villa???
IOs this done in Crete or must we bite the bullet and drive on arrival??

we can highly recommend City Cars of Heraklion who deliver to the airport or to any hotel. We have used them twice & will use them again next year when we go back to Rethymnon.

It is possible. most companies do it. In case they say no it might be due to the time of the year. if its high season and everyone is running up and down to do things it might not be the easiest thing for them to do, but i am sure if you ask them politely they will do it. after all its their job to be helpfull
i would go for Elite Cars. dont know their web site but i am sure you will be able to find it.
i also advice you to take a good look at the insurance. in most companies its different to the ones in the U.K. and that means that in case of accident they will pay after a specific amount of money paid by you. depending the company it might be just a few Euro or more

Funnily enough I'm looking for car hire in that region. Have you looked at http://www.holidayautos.com they're prices looked good to me. Fully inclusive rates but always check on excess waiver.

I always used Holiday Autos until I found Economy Car Rentals. Better standard of cars, same terms for insurance, unlimited mileage and no CDW, but cheaper!

hi, last year we visited Crete.

The response from them was amazing. We quoted to several companies, but at the end we chose this company. They offered a very good deal, and we got a free car upgrade, for a brand new car.
we will come back to Crete in October, and will definately choose them again.
