Hi
I was wondering if anybody can help me with any recommendations.
We are looking to go away for New Years Eve and are not sure where to go. We have been to Barcelona, Paris and Berlin on previous NYE, but cannot decide what to do this year.
We were thining of Brussels, but only because there is a good deal on flight/accomodation, however I'm open to suggestions - we'll probably go for about 3-4 days.
Thank you!
Jill
im wondering the same the last 2 new years we have spent in turkey, but i have found fairly good prices to marrakech and know the weather will be better than europe so very tempted, they have got good priced flights early on 31st dec or cheaper on the 3rd for 5 nights so might do that instead oh decisions lol im useless at making them lol, my cousin lives in brussels so if you want to know anything i can email her and find out for you
We've been for the last three years but are having a break from it this year but we'll be back
What about Edinburgh? They always have a massive street party (ticket only) in the city centre with bands etc and at midnight a huge firework display. Glasgow also does something similar.
Well we have now booked to go to Brussels - not sure what it will be like, but looking forward to it anyway!
Ellie meg - thanks for the offer - would be brilliant if you could find out any recommendations of what to do or where to go on NYE - is there anything going on there - firework displays etc. Also maybe a good restaurant to eat in. We are staying at the Meridian so anywhere around the area would be great. Thank you again. Turkey sounds nice - go for it!
we went to turkey last 2 years so not this year , think we are going to book marrakech but a few days after new year as much cheaper
just an update , she doesnt know of anything special that happens for new year as she usually has a party etc at home but shes going to try and find out for me, when she gets back to me i'll let you know
Thansk Karen, really appreciate it.
Hi Karen
ive not heard anything more from her, shes so busy working full time in a very important job and has 4 daughters that are members of everything going lol so shes running here there and everywhere rather her than me, ill remind her as shes obviously forgotten
The other option, of selecting where to eat as you go, is risky, as a lot of bars don't serve food on NYE. My advice is to suss it out a day or two in advance.
When it hits 12, there was a big firework display, & loads of people gather in the Grand Place. Just be careful with some of those Belgian beers, or you could be tucked up in bed by 10 o'clock!
ive had a reply today similar to what the other post said, shes also said theres a website about it so will try and find it for me , here is her email
hi karen
New Year here is about eating a lot of very nice food (seafood in particular - salmon, oysters, lobster etc.) and yes there is a firework display in front of the royal palace (never been though).
If they want to eat in a good restaurant need to get it booked up pretty well in advance and you're often charged over the top for an overbooked restaurant with slow service......
theres a website im trying to find information on new year too once if locate it i'll email it to you
Good luck!
love claire xx
The website will be really useful too.
Thanks againa nd I hope you've sorted your hol.
Thanks
Jill
