The bulk of shops and restaurants start to open from Easter onwards. There are quite a few open throughout the year anyway.

Referring to your Cyprus post, many hotels do have english language stations in the rooms, however almost all bars do so you never need miss the soaps or sport!!

been to Mallorca twice in April and everything is pretty much open in Palma Nova (especially the brillaint Fantazia crazy golf) so no worries on that score.

However the weather...........! fingers crossed! very mixed at that time of the year.
