Hiya Dave,
can you tell me how long the transfer to the complex took?
Also did you have a late checkout room or did you not need one?
We have e-mailed Thomson to see if we can book one, however, it is now too late in the day as we go in.......9 days!!!!!
Many thanks.
Would you not find it better to pay extra for nicer flights than keeping the room late because of night flights?
Of course it could be that you are using a regional airport & don't have a choice of flights.
I've never paid extra to keep a room on, as I only use it to get showered'n'dressed in morning & again before dinner. If you book another turkish bath on your departure day or just sauna/jazzuzi & massage a few hours before pick up you can use their facilities & you've had a nice treat too :D.
Again I could be talking rubbish as you may have small children & need the room.
We have morning flights for our Aegean Dream trip next May, more importantly they are Friday, which my husband likes because of his work.
Happy Holidays
Its the regional flight thing I'm afraid
I am less than an hour from Cardiff so try to fly from there when possible . I tend to keep the room on for the kids in the vain hope they will sleep for an hour or so before we leave (they are usually like rats!)Probably won,t bother again tho as it was a waste of time this year (glad really or I would have missed the paraglider crash land in the pool!)
Aegean dreams seems to have attracted a lot of us this year
The transfer is approx 1 hour 15 minutes.
Regarding late rooms, we generally don't bother, regarding the Aegean Dream the spa area has excellent showers, soap, towels etc., so change there. Luggage is stored at reception.
We have got used to the Turkey late flights and find no problem with them. It is important on your final day to treat it like just any other day of the holiday, i.e. spend it by the pool, beach, etc. We always see people fully dressed and hanging around reception all day just waiting to go home which seems such a waste of time.
One of the main reasons the Aegean Dream Resort is proving popular is the fact that the prices are so very good for a 4/5 star hotel.

Slightly off topic here, but did you find the area around the Aegean Dream Resort ie Turgetries/Bodrum as enjoyable as the Side/Belek area? I know it's a difficult question to answer as so much depends on personal taste and interests. I'm thinking about it with a view to taking a 14 and 12 year old for 2 weeks next summer and although we like a nice hotel we also like to go out and about, both getting around under our own steam and possibly a few organised excursions as well.
Basically Belek is in the middle of nowhere, you have to get a bus or taxi everywhere. I would only recommend Belek if you like being hotel based for your holiday. Side is diferent, consists of a nice town with hotels stretching out along the beach several miles in each direction.
Turgutreis however is a village really, with only a couple of large hotels and several smaller ones. It makes it easy for going out for a stroll as everything is close at hand. Never went into Bodrum so unable to help on this point.
Personally I would go for Turgutreis.
Dave
It can be easier if you have been able to keep the room on but it isn't a tragedy if this isn't the case.
To be totally honest, we tend to go for later flights through choice as you get an extra day or so to enjoy.
3 days and counting.......
have a really good holiday
Thanks Lally. I'm sure we will. I'll let you know how we got on when we get home.
Have a good one from me too. It looks like a brilliant hotel.
Doe...could you let me know where you got you're prices from as this hotel looks really promising for next year ..thanks..nicole
Portland direct (prices have gone up since I posted before ), but others do it as its on goingplaces web site. I think if you have the confidence you can do it DIY, booking direct with the hotel's web-site and just booking flights to Bodrum with whatever charter company you prefer.
We're off to Royal Asarlik next year and we've deliberately booked night flights this time (first time ever) because this year, going to Olu Deniz, our taxi picked us up at 7.30 in the morning for 2 hour check in for a 9.30 take off. 4 and a half hour flight plus arirport time plus two hours time difference added on and then 2 hour transfer! We arrived about 6.30 that night We felt that we'd lost the whole day. We were picked up on departure day at 12.00 lunchtime so we only had time for up, dressed, late breakfast and final shower - so we didn't get a whole day there. It was nice being home in time for tea. We are going to try the night flight thing and see if it's better to try and sleep on the journey and arrive in time for a whole day - I suppose we could always sleep around the pool, too. We know we will be tired but we were this time as well Anyway we are already counting the months til next August. Some good reviews have just been posted on our hotel so it makes it even better to look forward to.
We have done night flights twice jilly . the first time we arrived in resort around 8am (corfu) and the following year around 5am (olu). we were quite exhaused when we arrived despite a couple of odd hours sleep here and there on the plane and coach transfer but we were fine. I find children cope far better than we think they will. Mine never sleep very well on the first night anywhere and are always too excited .both times when we arrived early morning they were still full of beans and werent interested in trying to get to sleep when we arrived so we just put our towels on the sunbeds and went off to breakfast. I think the key to a good nightflight is the time of your flight home. It works really well if you can have a normal day get changed for dinner in your room if you can keep it on and then when you go to dinner just checkout with your cases then enjoy the evening until you are picked up. the only time it gets too much is when you dont have a pick-up until way after midnight as we did in corfu.
Thanks for the encouragment. We can only try it and see. Our flight home is at 4.20 am so with a 2 hour check in and transfer & pick up time I can't see it being too much after midnight anyway. Seeing as there's only the 2 of us this time we can always find a bar to hang out in without too much hardship
Roll on August 2007
Had a totally brilliant holiday, so wish that I was still there.
Will write my review when I can get myself over my post holiday blues.
Welcome back vodkafreak
