Just got back from Roquetas and can definately reccomend it, no drunkeness, some nice restaurants and lots of bars that gave tastey free tapas with alcoholic drinks. The resort has nothing outstanding about it just a very chilled all round feel, very long beach with some nice beach restaurants. Good for practising Spanish, most locals don't speak English too well but are very patient regarding the language barrier and really appreciate any attempt to try their language. Got severe hotel envy lots of very nice hotels indeed (not much rong with the golf appartments we stayed in though), looked like most of them weren't at full occupancy so shop around and you could get a really good deal.
Can't tell you much about Mojacar as we didn't go, but friend of my wife goes there regularly and loves it. Can well reccomend a visit to Granada and the Alhambra when in the area, long drive but well worth it.
Have fun and let us know what you do.
Been to Roquettes and in my opinion it is a lovely relaxing holiday. Still very Spanish, you feel that you are actually in Spain.
The drive from the airport isn't very attractive, but once in resort it is lovely. Almerimar and Agua Dulce are also two nice days out from the resort. You can go by local bus if not hiring a car.
Having travelled a lot in Spain, Roquettes is one of my favorite places. However if you like a lot of British, with British Bars and British food this is not the place to go.
Thanks for you're replies guys....nicole
I love it there, and hope to go again in May next year.
(Couldn't tell you about Roquetas, sorry)
