I need help in choosing the best resort!! I have browsed a number of websites but am no closer to finding a solution!
We usually go to Tenerife and stay right in the middle of Playa de las Americas, so you can see we like it noisy and lively! Have been going to Tenerife for years but now the kids are rebelling and want to try Portugal - although none of them have any suggestions exactly where in Portugal they want to try!!
So any suggestions from those of you that know Portgal would be appreciated. Our party usually consists of three young 40 something divorced women and four teenagers (16/17) who all like a lively holiday with plenty of nightlife (bars and clubs) and good restaurants. Not particularly beach types, more shopping and lying by the pool in the day and out clubbing in the evening!

Your holiday is the total opposite of what we like!!
I think Albufeira would be suitable for you - it has plenty of bars, clubs restaurants and a number of shops. For your purposes I think you would need to be near what they call 'the strip' rather than the old town.

I agree with pippa, i think anywhere else is going to be a little tame for your liking
Hi Shelley,I agree with the rest of them Albufeira would fit the bill especially Montechoro/ Areias Sao Joao which is The Strip area. Lots of night life, bars, clubs, eateries. Albufeira old town is also nice with lots of nightlife too. Also it depends when you are thinking of going cos it can be quiet in early season (March, April, May) & a lot of bars & restaurants close at the end of October & open up again at Christmas & New Year, Cheers Jayjan
Yep......it's GOT to be the "Strip" for you.......lots of music ,pubs and discos with plenty of action.

Definately need to stay near the strip, the vilanova apartments are an ideal base (only 10 metres away), we have stayed there and we are going back again in May
