Llandudno is just a bit too close!!! Only an hour away from home - the kids could come and find us!!!! Somewhere in Wales would be nice just a tad further away.

how about York - been there several tmes for weekends.plenty to keep you busy but very relaxing . nice pubs, walk along river or the city walls, evening ghost tours. . plenty of resonably priced b+Bs check out http://www.tripadvisor.co.uk for reviews.

you could quite happily spend the days being watered and fed and popping into the historic attractions in between.

Nowhere in the end!!!!!!!
Decided as there was so many choices I would let hubby decide - wrong thing to do!!!! He said he wasn't 'bothered' so I was a bit 'miffed' and upset for a few days. We have since decided to spend the money we would have spent on something for the 'house; Know its not the same!!!!

Irene, isn't that just typical of men. It's the sort of thing my husband would have done. You think you're doing something nice for them and they say they're not bothered. Hope you've got over your disappointment.

Shirley, As you say typical of men, but it could cost him dear, I have plans to redecorate the kitchen and dining room and I think if I can sort it out will arrange to be away for the weekend with my mum when he is 'working hard on the decoratin' - she will appreciate it. Then of cours there will be things to buy for the newly decorated rooms!!!!
Was looking at York to take mum but not driving couldn't believe how expensive it had become to travel from Liverpool by rail. Goes to show you when you have a car how much more convenient it is.
