It is run by and booked at the Oceanic beach shack on Baga beach. See Anthony or any of the waiters will point you in the right direction. Day 1, early coach pickup at your hotel (or Oceanic), travel to a spice plantation for the morning then on to Shangri La which is on the border of Karnataka in the western ghats. The remainder of the day and the next day is filled with a visit to a village, Bullock cart ride, elephant ride and wash, a walk up the hill to watch the sunset, a walk to a secluded waterfall and swim in the freezing pool at the bottom (they lit a fire last year so we could thaw out). The overnight stay is in straw huts (en suite) with entertainment and BBQ around a huge fire (gets a bit chilly in the hills). All food and drink at Shangri La is included in the price. Never spent a penny for 2 days! Really good trip and great value.
Forgot to say, when you visit the village, you might want to take somethings for the children. We took pencils and sweets. Wouldn't take sweets again though, next time will take stuff for the school or games for the kids
Thanks Ray - will let you know the cost when i find out. Anthony has asked us on numerous occassions to go along as guests for free (we've known the two brothers that own Oceanic for years), that's the real reason for not going along; If hubby and I take up two free spaces the guys would be losing out.........I don't mind a free drink now and again but a whole two days holiday would make me feel bad.
Hi GFF, I've been mulling it over and I think I have hit upon a solution to your predicament Firstly, take Anthony up on his offer of a free trip, that will make him feel good! Go on the trip and enjoy yourself, that will make you feel good! Then send ME the money that you would have paid and I guarantee I will feel good! No? Ah well, it was worth a try...
.................cheeky!!!, but I like it!!!
Every day at the Oceanic Anthony kept mentioning his jungle trips and our good friend Jay kept saying he wouldnt see us for 3 days cos he was going to the jungle
It does seem great value for money tho and might be worth trying.
Gemma, go to the chemist in Calangute and buy some of the weekly tablets, they might be better for your partner. Dont miss out on the trip!
dribyar, sorry to read that you did not spend a penny for 2 days.....must have been quite uncomfortable!!!
Yes thats a good idea might buy the weekly ones. The trip does sound good and Anthony does ask you about 10 times a day if you want to go but so far we have always said no
Ray.

Hello Ray I always worry about getting the tablets in goa incase there is any side effects ....we get the ones from boots and in 4 years they have been fine no side effects at all but as gemma33 said they cost £17 .........do you get them with a long date then take them the next year or just wait to you get over there and take them then and do you think it is ok to take the ones bought in goa (colleen)
