I got a great deal on flights to Forli in Italy with Ryanair and I want to hire a car at the airport and drive from Forli to Norcenni Girasole campsite, just south of Florence. AA routefinder says it takes about two hours and I see from maps that the road is single carriageway and looks like it goes through a mountainous area - can anybody tell me is this a difficult drive? What sort of road conditions can I expect?
Thanks in advance.
Try on
Hi, thanks for replying but I didn't see anything on the trenitalia website in relation to roads. I'm not planning on using public transport to get to the campsite as I will need a car for the duration of my stay in Italy anyway.
you may already have been on this trip so I may be too late with this info but if your directions from AA routefinder mention entering Porcellino they are incorrect and you'll have great trouble finding the campsite, try getting directions on google maps who list the journey as approx 2hr 33min which seems more realistic though if doing the journey at night allow additional time.
Approx 5km after you pass the A1 motorway you'll pass a Shell petrol station on your right, after which you turn right towards GREVE. After 3km the campsite is on the left hand side.
I haven't driven the route to Forli but have recently driven around Tuscany and was based at this campsite, I would class the driving on roads in this area as challenging, with its narrow carriageways and extremely sharp bends.

I am dissapointed to see that the trip will likely be at least two and a half hours - was hoping we could do it in under two hrs. It doesn't look that far on the map, but given the nature of the roads in the region I suppose that's about right. Thanks again.
