thinking of going to marmaris for a week on the 23rd oct staying at the blue bays hotel , I have read conflicting reports that the resort starts to wind down about this time and lots of things are shut and the hotels start to pack up, is this true. going with the little one whos nearly five and dont want him to be bored. Will most of the bars and shops be closed dont want to go to a ghost town or a hotel thats only half open. I know turkey has been quiet this year as we were there in may. Can anyone help before I book.
Thanks Diane.
given that that week is the end of ramadan and a lot of turks holiday then you should find the resorts fairly busy that week
dont worry too much, there will be loads of places still open. Its true that sme places will shut but more are keeping open during the winter this year. Marmaris doesnt completely close, just some of it.The good thing is that your money will go further a you can haggle the prices better
Briar your missing my point here, the Ramadan holiday starts 23rd Oct Thus effectively from the friday 20th Oct a large proportion of the Turks will be on holiday and a lot of them goto the resorts and stay in the big hotels. Now a couple of years ago Ramadan would have been 20 days later therefore at the end of the season or later, this year the resorts will probably be more open to catch this end of season trade.
Thinking of booking this for a week on the 23 oct this year half term week. I know its all icnlusive but it is quite cheap so if we wanted to eat out we could. We are booking it mainly to keep the little one entertined. Do you think there will still be plenty going on their seen as its coming to the end of the season or are we wasting our money. We could book the portobello through thomson for a week for £19 believe it or not but I did read a review that someone went in oct half term last year and the place was closing sown around them and I have reservations with it being so cheap. If someone could help I would be grateful as I need to get it booked.
most places will still be open..if you can get a week for 19 quid ..go for it!!!
Got to agree. I'd jump at the chance.Been to Marmaris the last week and had a brilliant time. Just take a woolley for the evenings. My daughter is going 27th Oct for a week.
I'd take a week unpaid off work for that! go for it I say. Even if there's hardly anything open, fact is the weather will be better than here and you're not at home are you?
WOW!
i am going to icmeler on the 20th october and went the same week last year.......it was great! weather was wonderful in the day, not a cloud in sight, but was a bit nippy at night. everywhere was open as normal but much quieter, did the normal trips, market, everything. i found that as i was leaving .....28th...so were they! so go for it.....you will have a fab time, i know i will
Olu Deniz should not be quiet as the world championship paragliding championships are on during half term.
The Club Belcekic Beach last October, had 150 families arrive for both the Engilsh half term week and the Scottish half term week (which are apparently 2 different weeks), so if its the same this year that should swell the numbers in Olu Deniz for the last 2 weeks of the season.
