http://www.headwater.com). Great for relaxed activity hols (walking, cycling and canoeing) and have a good choice of destinations and ability levels.
Not been with PGL so can't comment, but have experience of Headwater (
Hi Stewart. Haven't been PGL but my kids have and they had a fantastic time. First year (2002) my eldest went on his own whilst his brother was on a gymnastics summer camp. He was nervous going on his own and I was probably even more so. He went to Borreaton Park. I asked him to ring me every day but I got just the one phone call - he had a fantastic time, made loads of friends. The staff were great. In 2003 I then gave them the option of coming away somehwre with myself and partner or PGL again but together this time and I got a unanimous PGL. So off they went together to Borreaton Park again. Both times I managed to get last minute deals on their website which worked out half price so I thought they were excellent value for money too. Not my scene as not particularly active - especially on holiday but hte kids (were 11/12 at the time) really did have a super time. HTH!
They have a host of other activities possibly more aimed at children including evening entertainment games like Dungeons and Dragons and Capture the Flag.
Other years we have been there we have also enjoyed zip wire, abseiling, forest trail. There are other activities for other age groups.
Food had improved as well this year - you won't go hungry and you would not be bored.
I would recommend PGL in Dalguise any day.
When my son was in the scouts, they used PGL a few times and my son always raved about it. They were safe and well supervised, If you get in touch with them they will send you info.
