Thinking of having a 2-3 week holiday in Goa next April but havent a clue where to go! (is it worth going for 3 weeks by the way?)
We are a young couple in our twenties who love gorgeous beaches and like lots of restaurants and bars at night. ( we dont want somewhere where its all hotel based) Thats all we want in a nutshell!
Calangute? Candolim? Baga? Cavelossim? Wheres best?! ANy ideas?!
PLus is a 2* hotel a really low standard of hotel or is it not too bad, are we best going for at least a 3 star?
Few more questions...which tour operator is cheapest?
Recommend any hotels?
Is it worth going all inc or staying self catering?
What trips would anyone reccomend?
Thanks so much to anyone who replies ina advance!!

Plenty of bars and restaurants in this ara and you can head further up north to Ashvem, Morjim and Arambol where the beaches are stunning.
Don't go all inclusive, you need to experience the food in the restaurants and shacks. I'd highhly recommend the 'fast food' places for some excellent food. It's not McDonalds etc by the way!
You are also in a good base to visit the spice planations 9really interesting i found) , Old Goa (amazing old churches in a ghost city), Panjim (capital for shopping) and mapusa (good market)
Anjuna is just up the road too for the wednesady market which youhave to visit at least once, even if just to watch the bands at the bar by the beach.
The 2 saturday night bazzars are also not to be missed at Arpora.
Plenty more info if you need it!
Cheers

I echo everything that Martin said - Baga / Calangute is probably what you are looking for. Lots of bars and restaurants, shops etc.
One thing I would add is that as it's your first time in Goa - and April is soooo hot and humid, make sure you opt for a room with A/C.
Have a look at CSM hotel (Colonia Santa Maria) - very popular and in a great location, also give Ronil a look and Senhor Angelo, again both decent hotels in good locations.
For tour operators try Jewel in the crown, Odyssey, Travelpack, First Choice.
Any Further info required just ask away.

When you say hot and humid, is it sunny??? Reason asking is when we went to Thailand it was so hot and humid however was overcast at the same time. We did not get much of a tan!!
Hi, we found 3 weeks just perfect and yes it is as cheap as people tell you.
Hi Catherine - Yes it is still sunny, we have been in April in the past and came back with a great tan. The humidity I thought was worse on a night, during the day we were down on the beach and you always have a nice sea breeze so that keeps it cooler. We are going for 3 weeks in March/April next year and for us it still won't be long enough, would like to do longer but for the moment work won't permit it. Yes it is as cheap as everyone says, you actually struggle to spend it, eating out is not expensive and there are so many restaurants and bars you are spoilt for choice. Whatever you decide I'm sure you will enjoy your holiday.
We just can't decide now whether to go to Calangute or Baja now!
Any more comments/tips/suggestions greatly appreciated.

we went two years ago in april and the weather was fantastic. the only downside was that most things were winding down and the saturday market had finished which was a shame. That is why we are going a bit earlier next year. we stayed at the nizmar in calangute which was ok and in a good location
hope you have a nice time

Calangute / Baga are both very close together so it really doesn't matter which one you decide upon. Taxis are cheap so getting from A to B is not a problem.
