Best advice I can give you is to get ferry crossing using the Cruise Ferry instead of the fast ferry. I have been in a force 5 gale on crossings with the cruise ferry and the fast ferry. A force 5 on the cruise ferry is hardly noticeable but the fast ferry in a force 5 is very bouncy. If you are on cruise ferry and prone to sea sickness I'd advise getting seats in the middle of the lowest passenger deck (one with the bar on it). The fast ferry also gets cancelled alot in winter so you could have along wait for cruise ferry.
