Hi Dawnlee
We have booked for 2007 with http://www.directholidays.co.uk who are part of the MyTravel (Airtours Group) or I believe Portland holidays (who are part of Thomsons) also use this hotel.
We have just returned from our wedding at the Lindo (though we were upgraded to the Maya as were many others). We have previously stayed 4 times at the neighbouring Del Mar but the Lindo/Maya is far better with regard to rooms and food. You can eat a la carte every night if you wish or use the buffets at the Lindo, Maya, Del Mar or Beach hotels. Also (not yet in the brochures or websites) you can eat at the Paraiso shopping centre in the Tacos, Tapas, Hamburger Bar or Crepes/Ice Cream parlour if you want a snack or just something different.
We are already researching prices for next year and I believe Chris is correct in saying that Direct Holidays seem to work out as the cheapest tour operator package. The cheapest way we have found of getting to the Lindo is to book accommodation only with, for example, Expedia or Funjet and book a Thomsonfly flight. For us to go to the Maya next October (half term) for 7 nights would cost us £2200 with First Choice or £1315 by booking the Thomson flights (£225 return each) and hotel with Expedia.
Hope you find the hotel at the right price for you!

we too have just returned from the lindo and were upgraded to the maya. Both hotels are fantastic and the service is excellent. Only one small complaint we went with direct holidays and never saw a rep after the 1st day. had to ring round the resort to eventually find out what time we were due to be picked up for the return flight. But the hotels themselves are the best we have been too.

Roughly translated it means:-"A fire that registered in the zone of restaurants of the Iberostar hotel Paradise(Paraiso), highway Beach of the Carmen-Cancún, generated panic and confusion, after which the flames which they initiated in one of palapas of the lodging center began to burn, which caused a fast mobilization of the department of Firemen to choke the fire that threatened propagating in the hotel complex, one of greatest of the Mayan Riviera; according to preliminary information they were not registered dead nor wounded.
Apparently the wreck was registered in one of the five sections of the hotel, in palapa of "snack bar".
According to it reported the Direction of Civil defense, was originated by the sparks of the pistols to weld used by workers in contiguous facilities to that place.
The flames managed to propagate quickly until completely consuming palapa, according to Civil defense, of about 100 square meters, in the place were around 20 guests who were transferred to a place more surely, no of them was injured."
We will be there in May so hopefully it wont be to bad but for anyone leaving soon it could be a problem.
According to the Iberoboard site, the fire consumed the palapa covering the entrance to the Cajun (Jambalaya) and Gourmet (El Museo) restaurants at the Lindo. The hotel hope to have the palapa replaced and everything back to normal by 9th Feb.
