My (now) wife came to the UK on a tourist visa originally with a school trip where she taught, she then came later on a tourist visa to visit me and later got a wifes visa after we were married. As mentioned earlier I did have to initially provide loads of info that I could support her, and she had to show she had something to come back to Turkey for (teaching job).

I have found that if all the paperwork is in order and that the Turk has a strong reason to return (good job, house, etc) that the visa will be issued. Most of the time it is not is because the Turk isn't thought to have a strong enough reason to return or often because the sponsor can't prove they can adequatly support their visitor.

Anyway all this is now behind me, my wife is dual national Turkish/British, so are my kids and now so am I.
