Apparently it's been there since 1987!
No-one has got around to moving it yet - too expensive I guess.
However it makes a great view from our house.
Have a look at the Photo Gallery / Liakada on our website (in my signature below) and you will see the ship in the distance in the view from our balcony and terrace. You can double click on the picture so it will come up bigger.
I would have posted it here but I haven't worked out to do that yet.

Thats what I was told but who knows!
Planning to go back in 2007 and that bit of the coast would not be the same without that boat there!
Just an addition to my last post....
There has, so I have been told various ideas put forward to make use of it but none have ever got beyond the ideas stage. How to get people safely out to it is the first problem.
In some ways it could be considered as dumping - yet as a landmark and talking point it would probably be missed if it was to be removed.
It sits very firmly on the rocks so the cost of removing would be expensive.
fwh
you mean this one (taken on our previous trip in 2004)
Yes I Do... Strange Isn't it
That ship was carrying timber and when it's engines failed it came aground near Chlorakas, they removed it's cargo and engines but failed to re float it, it is now a local landmark and rusting away merrily, my guess is it will remain there.
probably end up as a diving attraction when it crumbles into the water...
The Zenobia in Larnaca is a fab dive! (massive boat that sank years ago and still has many lorries on it)
The Paphos boat does seem quite happy and secure on those rocks
Impossible to sink that ship Steve, it is in ten meters of water, we will all watch it gently rust away, I think, although there is some local authority action committee who are trying to get this junk removed...
