Hi Guys,
As i have probably said in the forum somewhere before, my fella and i (both aged 24) are planning to go to Goa for the first time in Jan for bout 5-6 months (well depends on how long the money lasts really!!) I wonder though if we might get a bit bored sometimes???, although i love lying on the beach - chillin, drinkin and getting a tan, there is only so much of that you can do, wat else is there to do in the day apart from doing a few trips? Id love to meet new people to chill with and chat to, a game of footie on the beach or things like that would be good to break up the day, i know the goan people are friendly (well everyone says it on the forum!) are other holiday makers friendly?
Another option for us would be to do some charity work - i have been on to the walkingtall website and have had a good look but does anybody know what it actually involves, e.g. wat do you help the children with - reading? playing? any advice regarding this would be much appreciated
Many thanks
Sue
Me and my ex did the same as you last year. We went to goa for three months, took unpaid leave from work.
As you are thinking, as was thinking the saem, will we get bored just lying in the sun! But we didnt, there is so much to do!
I think we wnet ot every place in goa that we could, and did so many trips with day trip goa.
Also you dont need to stay in goa the whole time. The trains are so cheap, we went to loads of differnet places, mumbai and delhi included and saw the taj mahal. Dont limit you rstay to goa! We rented our place for three motnhs and then wehn we were going away just told the owenrs and they looked after the room and any items that we left behind. We did this as it meant didnt have to cart all our stuff with us on the trains!
Charity work is a good idea, which i wanted to do but didnt end up doing it in the end as my other half at the time wasnt to keen.
There is a footie pitch in candolim and we ahd a few games ont here with the locals int he afternoons. Also ont he beach aswell we joined in the local lads who were playing! They are friendly so if you want a game, and you see them playing just ask them!
Any more info needed...................
Will definatley go and see the Taj Mahal defo!! & some more of india then x
Really interested in what you said about renting a place for 3 months.... think thats a good idea takes the hassle out of looking for somewhere new to stay all the time. How did that come about? did u jus ask the owners how much it will be for 3 months stay - do many hotels/B&B's do this - and how much did it cost you for the 3 month stay was it cheaper like that??
Also curious to know your thoughts on travelling in india (good/bad?) - would you do it again??
Lots of questions!!!
Sue
id definatley travel throuhg india again! it was a great experinece! the poeple are so friendly and even if they dont speak english they will be smiling and shaking your hands to make you feel wlecome!
The travelling is totally differnet ot england! the trains are a great experience and places acan take along time to get ot, but its worth it once you are there!
we took a chance on t he accomodation and found a place via the internet called Lucia Beach guesthouse in candolim. We didnt know anything about it but it was cheap to book so went for it. And we were so glad we did! It a great littel guesthouse, only has 6 rooms and is right on the beach! I can give you contact details if you want, but i think they might be booked up for this season already! I recommend everyone to stay there! But you can try cos if they dont have room im sure they can recommend somewhere to stay.
I tihnk everywhere does long rental in goa, and if its a small place like we were staying in then you should have no problem leaving your stuff in the room whilst your away. Your paying for the room anyway so im sure they wouldnt mind!
We also went to morjim beach and became good friends with a beach shack owner of Planet Hollywood, his name is Shaun. If you get to goa, and have noweher to stay, go and see shaun his family have rooms where you can stay. Morjim is great for relaxing, nothing there but beach really and a few houses! Its only about 40mins in at taxi form candolim. If you do go there tell him laura form manchester told you about him! He will def sort you out!
when are you going? If you havent booked your flights yet gulf air are douing a return flight to mumbai for £260! cant believe it!
I will be in goa on the 9th december wiht my friend marie, but sadly only for one week this time! NOT FAIR!
