If you are in the (V)Oroklini tourist area, the Larnaca Dhekelia Road is full of restaurants (Cypriot, Indian, Mexican, French, Chinese) and bars.

If you are in (V)Oroklini village, there a few restaurants.

Do you have a more precise location for the villa?
Or a website?

I'm not sure if it is in the tourist area or the village but the directions from the airport are as follows

1. Drive out of the airport. At the roundabout take the Larnaka exit.
2. Follow this road all the way along, past the Salt Lake , and past 3 sets of traffic lights until you get to the monument roundabout.
3. Go straight over ( Marina exit). At the traffic lights turn right onto the main road ( Grigori Avenue ).
4. Follow this road to the bottom, through 3 sets of traffic lights. At the 4 th lights (Police Station in front of you) turn left into Makariou Avenue .
5. Follow this road until you get to the roadworks.
6. Turn right, following the sign to Dhekelia. Take the second left ( Larnaca Port in front of you) and continue down, it joins the main Dhekelia road.
7. Follow the signs to Dhekelia, past one set of traffic lights and past the "Welcome to Vorokloni" sign.
8. Just before the next set of traffic lights (not the pedestrian lights) you will see a Fire Station set back on your left. Turn off into the forecourt and take the sliproad on your left (effectively doubling back on yourself).
You will pass some houses, and at aprox. 500 m from the fire station you will see villa Mumtaz on your right with the swimming pool in the front.

Very nice.
We usualy stay in a villa just a bit further on past the fire/police stations.
They have a habit of trying out their sirens from time to time.

I'm not sure about the directions (from no 3 to no 6), and the roadworks (no 5) are finished. At the end of Archbishop Makarios III Avenue you go straight over the roundabout (2nd exit) then follow the directions to the fire station.
Not the route I'd take, but I've been driving round Larnaca on and off for 20 years. (And getting lost, occasionally!)

Most of the restaurants are further along the Larnaca/Dhekelia Road.

Personal recomendations on "The Strip" (Larnaca/Dhekelia Road):
-Marcos
-Coral Inn
-Lysia
-Vlachos
-Aztecas (Mexican)

(V)Oroklini village (Turn left at the fire station traffic lights):
-Corfu Tavern

Personal recomendations (in town):
-Beyond the Fort:
-Militzis
-Monte Carlo
-Cuckoo's Nest
-Varoshiotis

Off the Prom:
-To Dichoro (In an alley behind the Meeting Pub)
-Kalifatzias (near St Lazarus Church)
-Navy Marine (on the Prom)

You will find many more recomendations (not all mine) here.

The nearest "proper" supermarket is Carrefour (formerly Chris's Cash And Carry).
Head back towards Larnaca and at the Port roundabout turn right (3rd exit). Carrefour is on the right. There's an excellent fruit and veg market next door.

Thanks for the tips on restuarants, it's always best to eat in places that are recommended.

How far a walk (roughly) is the Larnace/Dhekelia Rd, Town and the Prom from our villa.

Thanks again

Hi Marcia.

The fire station is actually on the Larnaca Dhekelia Road.
I would not recommend walking to the majority of restaurants, especially at night. They are a little more than walking distance and the paths (when there are any) are not good. It's a good mile to the main area of The Strip.

Town and Prom, you'll need a car, or the tourist bus which runs every 1/2 hour in the summer season during the day, although we did see it still runing well into the evening in September.

When do you go?

Thanks Mark

We are planning to go into July.

We really wanted a villa that you could walk to some bars/restaurants/shop so that we didn't have to depend on a car/bus all the time.

We were planning to hire a car but just didn't want to use it every time we went out.

HTH Marcia.

There is a restaurant behind the fire/police station, also a restaurant and a couple of hotels on/near the junction, so there are eating places just 2 -3 minutes walk from Mumtaz. We've never tried them, though.

Everything else is possibly in walking distance. The closest of my recommendations is the Coral Inn, opposite The Princess (*sometimes called Princess Beach or Louis Princess Beach) Hotel, about 2 kilometres heading away from Larnaca town. Nothing much in the other direction.

As I said earlier, we stay just beyong the fire station and would not be without a car. We always use the same car hire company, Petsas. Email them for a quote.

June eh. Should be warming up nicely!
Hope you have a great time. We always do!!

Thanks again for your really useful tips.

It seems that there are a few places within walking distances.

The problems is that this year we went to Portugal and we had to drive everywhere. This doesn't bother me and I am one of the drivers, but as we will be a party of 10, it's nice if people can just wander off for a walk to a bar/cafe etc during the day.

In the evening we will probably drive into the strip or the town for dinner and a few drinks. Any ideas what parking is like?

Cheers

Strip should be no problem.

Town options (free)

1)Drive in along Arch. Makarios Ave, turn left at main police station on to the prom. Drive around the Fort. There will, undoubtedly be plenty of parking along here (Pigiale Pasha Street) with the sea on your left.
I usualy park there, or:

2)Along Arch. M Ave again. Turn right up a side street towards the Archeological Musuem (preferably Dimitras Street/Ave - I park here frequently, nice walk to town). Plenty of streets with parking around here.

Town options (pay)

1)Big car park on left of Arch. M Ave accessed from Falirou Street/Ave

2)Multi-storey near Ag. Lazarus Church on Dionysou Street/Ave

3)Bit of land to the left of Ag. Lazarus Church. Usualy someone on a chair collecting money

4)Various plots of land and proper car parks scattered about town. See map: here.
