Hi
can anyone tell me the best 4 star hotel to stay in in vilamoura? have booked flights for sept 07 but can,t make my mind up as to which hotel. we are not golfers so it would be based on proximity to beach and room and food quality as we like to go half board. done all the self catering when taking children with us.
Have read all of the reviews on different sites and am now more confused than ever.
hope you can help

I popped into Vilamoura in Sept and the main one that you can see from the Marina is the Tivoli Marinotel if it's location you are after.
We have stayed at the Vila Gale Marina hotel many times before we bought our own place, Its a lovely 4 star hotel, the Vila Gale Ampalius is also a nice hotel and is owned by the same hotel group. The Tivoli Marinotel is 5 star and is a little bit pricey. Cheers Jayjan
have looked at the gale marina, it sounds really nice but looking at the reviews on HT not so sure now.the tivoli is a bit out of our price range.
have also looked at the dom pedro marina but there is such conflicting reports that i am totally confused.it amazes me that two people can go in the same week and one love it while the other hates it.
I am now looking at the oriental in praia de rocha which sounds nice no doubt there wiil be someone out there who says different

What's Vilamoura like in the winter ?
Hi Kath Vilamoura can be quiet in the winter but still plenty restaurants open. They cater for the golfing season so quite a few still going on, on the marina Fairways & the 19th Hole are popular joints. Seven bar on marina is open all year round and can be busy but its the old preverbial karaoke thing etc. Lots of bars & restaurants based behind the marina are still open also, its just a matter of having a good look round the place. Cheers Jayjan
