Just been watching our videos of Bali. There are similarities to Koh Samui, resorts that are comprised of beach hotels and little restaurants and bars. If thats what you are after then you might want to avoid the Nusa Dua resort area as it is one of these manicured up market resort areas - nice but you could be in any number of tropical resort islands anywhere in the world.

We stayed at Tanjung Benoa, some similarities with Samui although the beaches were not as good. Plenty of sightseeing though on Bali - more so than on Samui and of course a totally different culture based primarily on the Hindu religion. Also better suited to a holiday in our summer months than many of the parts of Thailand.

we stayed in Sanur- I didn't fancy the bigger resorts. Yes, Sanur has loads of beach restaurants. Bali is definitely paradise- it is stunning! Have a look at the gallery
