bluepeter.. although a good idea i think that this topic would be hard to do and sorry to say a little pointless as we would all nominate someone different that did us a good service & there are plenty to nominate in Turkey..be it in a hotel, restaurant ,excurtion trip etc. and wouldn't mean a thing to anyone else. and this topic would take up a hell of a lot of space on the H.T. site.. good intentions by you i know ... sorry to put a dampner on it..

ah but the whole point would be to bring these people to the attention of other holiday makers ,who could look out for them if they were going to the same hotels , pubs . or resturaunts , and let them know they have been appreciated. just a wee idea as there is not o lot of topics to discuss at this time of year

maybe I can help........ I have set up a website that is dedicated to good service, value etc... whilst not praising individuals we would like you to recommend places where you have received good service. we can then contact them and promote them on the website....it would also be great to say who sponsored them and why............ your help would be greatly appreciated, we only operate in the Marmaris area at the moment but hope to expand if the idea works....

bluepeterno1,

I like the idea of your topic. I would think that everyone has come across someone in Turkey who stands out in their mind. I would imagine HT members would get a kick out of reading about someone they had a similar opinion of.

For me and from the many years I have visited Club Turquoise in Marmaris, the one employee would be 'John Boy'. A nicer person you could not hope to meet. Over the years he has come and gone at Turquoise and I have always made a point of visiting him wherever he worked. A couple of years ago he got married and now has a beautiful daughter. 'John Boy' is obviously his tourist name but everyone who has met him will know him by that name. A religious man with strong family values who for me portrays the type of person many on HT Turkey forum mention time and again in their comments.

Wilson

hi bluepeter,
i,like you and so many others here on ht have a favorite in turkey.
his name is cengiz,we struck up a conversation about football of all things,he's a liverpool fan, that made me wince a little,as i'm a arsenal fan myself,he is one of the porters at club zigana,in beldibi nr kemer,he will go out of his way to do anything he can for you,far and beyond his duties.
we chat regular on msn and e-mail back and forth, but poor cengiz is not to happy at the moment, the hotel has just closed for the winter, and he's off to do his stint in the army,as so many of the turkish lads do.
but on a happy note,he is back at zigana next season,so we will meet up again next may.
he has planned a day trip into antalya for me my partner and our two girls,to spend the day with him and his girlfriend,on his day off work.
it's cengiz and people like him, that will have us all returning year after year to turkey, cheers to you all, :glynis
