BIg question since the eruo, not been to Crete for a long time ut do isit Greek Island a lot during the season and generally prices have increased since the euro but think they are basically on parpojo

Don't know about Skiathos but I normally allow £1000 for the 2 of us for Crete including room, spending and alot of travelling about (we normally spend about 100 euro on public transport)

That said we do drink retsina, beer and raki so this keeps the costs down - only the odd cocktail!

The cheapest island I've been to is Patmos - the most expensive Paxos - so yes there is a great variation. Prices also vary from resort to resort.

Beer (Amstel, Mythos, 500gm bottle)2 to 2.5 €
Half kilo local wine:3 to 4€
Main meal 6 to 8€
Coke 1 to 1.5€

Supermarket prices are higher than in England unless you find a Lidl of which there are some in Greece.

Room rates for low season are around the 35€ a night mark, obviously depends when and where you are going and how up-market you want to be. I would reckon Crete to be less expensive than Skiathos.
