I assume you want a beach holiday? It's entirely subjective but here's my two-pennyworth. Puerto Pollenca and Alcudia in the north are very popular but quite a distance from Palma and the beautiful south-eastern beaches, even with the new motorway. Older, mid-east resorts like Cala Bona are unremarkable and even a tad run-down in places. The south-east coast can be quite beautiful, is less developed but might be a little too laid-back for you. Arenal, east of Palma, has a good beach, dozens of hotels and is maybe nearer Benidorm in atmosphere.

Palma Nova might tick most of your boxes, being slightly less busy than the adjacent and rather brash Magaluf which has your specified water parks, many bars and plenty of all-day 'english' breakfasts. Further west along the coast is Santa Ponsa, very popular with families, fairly compact with an excellent beach. The 'Irish' entertainment and club quarter is very lively, the marina side of the resort a tad quieter. A few kilometres further out, Peguerra, once a mostly german resort, is steadily being repopulated by the Brits.

Dig around on this excellent site, remembering that everyone has different ideas of what consitutes a good holiday detination. You may glean sufficient opinions to help you make up your mind. Wherever you end up, Mallorca has an enormous range of scenery and places to visit so, if it's at all practical, hiring a car will make a tremendous difference.

GGB's done a great job in outlining some places. I think I'd narrow it down to Alcudia versus Palma Nova - the former has the better beach and some good family nightlife plus its own waterpark; the latter is a good family choice and you are close to waterparks and other good attractions (more so than in the north in Alcudia).

MAGALUF has every age and every need . loads to do for kids and an awsome beach . walking distance to 2 waterparks and a go-cart track .
and of course the famous PIRATES SHOW . palma nova is nextdoor .
you have 3 beaches to chose from , magaluf , son matias and palma nova . all great for kids

I think Santa Ponsa may be worth a look. Just a couple of stops on the bus from Palma Nova and Magalluf , but a little bit quieter. plent to do day and night and close to Palma and the airport.
