Me and wife have booked Nizmar in Calangute for middle of jan!
I want to know if there are good saree or asian wear shops (not just the markets and street traders, like proper export quality shops!) as she is planning on buying a lot! Although this is not good news for my credit card, we have been married only 3 months so i cant say no!
also in calangute/candolim is Nizmar decent enough? I mean are there better quality hotels in the area or are they generally the same?
cheers guys!
there is a hotel revew section on the tool bar on top.
can't help with cloths sorry one of the girls will be along soon with that info

Hello Ikki, stayed at the Nizmar last year and had a brilliant time, staff very, very friendly and can't do enough for you. It's ideally situated in Calangute for shops, bars etc. but is set back off the road so nice and quiet at night. Decent swimming pool with free sunbeds and towels. Plenty of cheap taxis right outside the hotel if you fancy a trip, whatever you do don't book any trips with your rep. you will get them for at least half the price with a taxi driver. Can recommend Dominic he's very good and works from the Nizmar. Re Sarees my daughter and her friend have been making enqs. as they are buying them this visit, a saree shop at the front of Mapusa market has been suggested by several people, various sarees are sold here at a fixed price of £15 and are very well made, ornate with intricate beading and sequins. Hope this helps. Lenny
Can't remember if its BEFORE or just after the fish market ...but if you're walking down towards Calangute its on the left hand side..and does buy one get one free! I bought two for curtaining! I THINK it was about £10 for the 2 (if you want to see photos...pm me and I'll take a photo of them )
welcome to the Goa forum ikki!
Try a shop called Bombay Bazzar in Panjim they have the latest styles as seen in bollywood . Lots of indians shop there,
thanks a lot - seems panjim has most of the bollywood style clothes shopping facilities!! i will be making a lot of trips there - is it far from calangute? how much would tuk tuk or taxi cost?
Make a day out of it. Theres some fab little bars, they dont aim at tourists and their prices reflect this.
Go to the usefull info thread and you will find a list of Taxi fares , based on travelling from Calangute/ Candolim. I think they are from last year so could be a little more now. Always agree on a price before travelling
