Which european beach resorts are good to go to over new year?
Thinking of going away around 29/12 nex year for a week or so.
are bars / restaurants / supermarkets open or is it best to go to a hotel rather than self catering.

Albufeira on the Portuguese Algarve always have a huge fireworks display on New Years Eve.There is always live music in the town centre as well as on the beach;this year there are two Portuguese singers and also Mel C ( ex Spice girls. )
Tenerife. It is brilliant there New Years Eve. Firework displays can be seen all around the Island plus you will have good weather at that time of year. We will be there from 15 - 29th December. We normally do three weeks this time of year and stay until after New Year but we are going skiing on the 5th Jan so need time to wash/iron/pack - again 
Have to admit i'm gutted we are not there for New Year.
