There is a programme called Globe Trekker on one of the sky channels, also Thomsons and Thomas Cook both have their own 24 hour holiday channels on sky and Sky has it's very own travel channel also.
For those of you who don't have sky or some sort of cable/digital TV, last night i watched "Holiday" on BBC 1 with that Llwellyn Bowen bloke and they featured Sicily, Nepal, Mexico and a PGL holiday for kids in England.
That programme is on on Monday nights at 7.00pm.

The Thomsons channel on Sky is brill ( channel 637) and does offer some bargains, but sometimes there are hidden supplements. We saw a holiday advertised to Lanzarote for a certain price flying from Gatwick but they said for a SMALL supplement we could fly from a different airport more local to us, so i rang and asked about East Mids ( they don't fly to Lanza from Donny) and the price more than doubled ( it went up by more than what the original price was quoted at per person ) so we didn't go.

Anyway, i must admit, i like watching holiday programmes too, but i have never chosen to go on a holiday anywhere because i have seen it on TV.

I'm on NTL cable; Sky Travel and Sky Travel Extra are okay channels for travel programmes, a combination of interesting around-the-world programmes and the odd half-hour of holiday deals from Sky Travel Shop. Not sure if Telewest's channel numbers are the same but it's 288 and 289 on NTL. We used to get Thomas Cook TV on NTL but it's disappeared now.

Telewest don't show "Sky Travel" or "Sky Travel Extra" and as you say "Thomas Cook TV" has also vanished. The only channel that we do get is "Discovery Travel & Living" and that's not what i would call a holiday channel.

we should pester telewest and ask for holiday programs.

I think its the same with NTL they dont have the same holiday chanels as sky. I used to watch tv travel shop too but that has gone bust.

ray, having not got telewest, and being aware that some sky channels are available on telewest, i was merely mentioning some of the options available as i didn't know which channels from sky regarding travel are on telewest.. since my post, 12 noon has written that the only one available is the Discovery T & L...perhaps you should start nagging at them to make these additional channels available to you..

Telewest and NTL are supposed to be one company now anyway, so maybe they'll pick up their channel lists once they've got everyone one the same 'platform'

yes probably just read in local paper NTL are changing their name to Virgin media and being revamped. Probably putting their prices up too lol
