Hi everyone, I'm a newby and I am here because I'm a bit upset about the attitude of 'onthebeachholidays.com', through whom we had booked our summer holidays to Fuerteventura a few weeks ago.
You may have heard by now that the flight operator Club Travel 2000, Loco and CT2 have gone bust.
My better half and I received an email last night (13.12.06) from 'onthebeachholidays' to tell us that CT2000 had gone but not to worry because they could still get us there with another airline as long as we did'nt mind paying the extra £300.00!!. They said to book it quickly because everyone would be re-booking next day and there would be no flights. They also informed us that we could only claim half of the original deposit (£300.00) from ATOL as the other half had been already been paid to the hotel. When we explained that THEY were responsible for the full amount as our contract was with THEM.... they put the phone down!. We rang a further twice and both times, as we started asking questions (including their name), they put the phone down on us......and we were'nt even being angry or rude!.
Today, we checked with the Castillo De Elba Hotel (the hotel booked) and the manager informed us that he HAD'NT been paid and does'nt get paid until the guests leave. We later checked with other airlines and all their prices were similar to the original price. We were assured that they would'nt rise just because CT2000 had gone bust and could'nt understand 'onthebeachholidays' statements.
We have now been advised by Visa that we are going to get the whole deposit repaid by them and they will take up our complaint with 'onthe beachholidays'. This is a disgraceful way to deal with customers who have unwittingly trusted this 'Micky Mouse' company.
We have now booked the SAME holiday with Thomas Cook and the price is £39.00 more...but that includes airport transfers, which were not included in the 'onthebeachholidays' deal. We are also pleased that we are dealing with a REAL company and wonder why we ever booked an important holiday with an unknown firm like 'onthebeachholidays'!!
Have any others on this site had any problems with this company?.

I know your credit card company is returning your deposit, but please report this to your local Trading Standards.
They will circulate details to other Local Authorities throughout the country, and if appropriate will prosecute for any offences revealed under the Package Holiday Regulations and any other legislation.

i booked online with this company around may 06 for flights oct 06 and paid the dep required for flights to turkey, the next day i got a phone call from onthebeachholidays telling me that i had an extra £25 each to pay as the price hadnt included a recent increase in tax so i refused saying you had accepted the price and i had paid deposit etc and you now cant ask for more money they refused to accept this and in the end agreed to refund me, i wasnt too pleased and therefore havent used them again, looks like they make a habit of asking for more money !!!
