Hi Graham,

Edfu Temple, High dam and Philae, Komombo Temple. These three should be done whilst you are on the Nile.

Abu Simbel is just stunning and a definite "must see" if you want to afford the flight from Aswan.

East and west bank Luxor can be done at your leisure from your hotel. Use a local company to go, its much cheaper. A good one is Jolleys Travel, next to The Winter Palace Hotel, but there are others.

Other worthwhile things to do are, Hot air balloon trip, Excursion to Dendera Temple to see the only existing portrayal of Cleopatra on the temple wall and The Sound and Light Show. Luxor Museum is also not to be missed and is a lovely air-conditioned "oasis" on a hot morning!

I dont know if you have read through the two Nile Cruise dedicated topics at the top of the forum page, but they are stuffed with information you may need.

Thanks carrot

Thats excellent info, as an Egypt virgin I have been making my way throught the various topics (and there is a lot) but wasn't sure exactly what excursions should be done from the boat.

With only 4 weeks to go I am trying to get all the what to do and where to do it's sorted :hmmm

Thanks again
Graham

Hi Graham,

Make sure you try to visit Medinat Habu on the West Bank in Luxor. This temple is often not included in tour itineraries. It's a beautiful place with fantastic heiroglyphics & great surviving colours. The tombs in Valley of the Workers & Nobles are worth visiting too if you have the time & energy!! Also don't miss Luxor's small but excellent museum, open 9am to 9pm.
Carrott has mentioned most other places to see. By the way Carrott Luxor is changing rapidly now. The new train station is almost finished. The green park area behind Luxor temple has gone & new, larged paved & tiled seating area is practically complete. The market now has a beautiful, wooden arched entrance & is fully paved, no vehicles allowed. The scarabs outside the Iberotel, formally Novotel have gone & been replaced by a lovely planted area. Other roundabouts & intersections of roads are being tastefully planted too. You will see a big change when you next visit. Maybe we can meet up when you come next.

Thanks for the info Iberis, The changes sound intriguing to say the least!
I'd be delighted to meet you on our next visit to Luxor.
