Wobbler, I really think that you are the person most able to decide on the answer to your question. You know your children the best!

In several visits to Luxor and several Nile cruises, I have to say that there has been a distinct lack of lots of young children, but there have been several.

At your hotel, you will have the pool and staff who are normally very receptive to young kids. In that respect there should be no problem. Whether visits to ancient tombs, museums or temples will fire their imagination is for you only to decide.

My own view would be, that as we suspect that a lot of the wonders of Egypt will not survive for too much longer, then maybe it's a good idea to let your kids experience them whilst they can?

The Jollieville Movenpick is definitely the best hotel for kids. Great pool, a small zoo, activity trail & some organised activities. It is possible to pay to spenda day there with your family & use the facilities. As Carrot says the history will be a great experience for them & hopefully you will find a good guide who can make it interesting for them at their level. I'm sure they will enjoy the Mummification museum & a sail on a felucca on the Nile. We also now have a small bowling alley, only 2 lanes but a change for them from the history.
