I don't think you should have any problem finding places to stay, I wnt down to Palolim a couple of days ago and there was hardly anyone there (for the time of year), quite suprised, there were six of us and quite easily found 3 huts. Paid 350 per hut which was a bit of a premium as it was boxing day... But my family was on holiday and they don't seem to care what they pay - I keep trying to teach them... but they think everything is so cheap!

Ashvem Beach (North Goa) is your best bet.

Try "Rock Bites" or any of the other two or three in the same place. It's about 500 rps per hut per night with ensuite - Also a good place to try the home brewed Feni!

Watch the prices for fresh seafood but other than that these three or four places are very good value.

Palolem is not the place it used to be, it gets very busy, If you really want to go there then go to the southern most end of the beach where there is a little isolated bay, can't remember what it is called I'm afraid but Ashvem is far better (quieter) in my opinion and if you fancy a bit more life like lively restaurants & bars then Arambol is just up the road.

You could try Silent on asvem beach we went in november we DID not stay in the huts but they showed them to us and I was more than happy with what I saw they asked for 700 rps and when we said no they said 500 we did say we will book for the next week but just never got round to it ..
They have an en suite and the bedroom looked ok
