Can anyone suggest a nice hotel that my partners mum could visit please?
She really fancies Menorca and is looking for somewhere fairly quiet but friendly with enough bars and restaurants to meet people. She is looking at going for a week and her budget is about £400 which I thought would be enough but whilst looking at various websites it seems that it's difficult to get anything for this price going from a south west airport. Also, I normally go through Thomas Cook but it the website doesn't seem to be working so I'm not sure who the best people to use are??
Help would be appreciated, by the way, in case it helps she is a young 53!!

Have you looked at the castell playa in arenal den castell??
This is an adult only hotel in a family resort. 20 mins from the airport, a very good base to see the rest of the island too.

The Castell Playa is lovely, but I am sure it is more geared up for couples, making it harder for a sinlge person to join in.
If your partner's Mum is travelling on her own it might be better to try a more family-orientated hotel or self-catering complex where there will be familes bringing spare mums/dads/uncles/ aunties/ one parent families etc. where she would be more likely to be able to make friends??
In which case she'll need somewhere with a single room or 2 bedded studio so as not to get stung too much for under-occupancy.....
I would think the budget of £400 means going out of the July-August period to a hotel. As discussed in other topics, Menorca is not the cheapest place to go....as a smallish island it relies a lot on imports which always puts the prices up, and doesn't have many low-cost flights. Majorca would be cheaper. But Menorca is very beautiful.
