not been to marmaris in a couple of years, so has there been many changes.??

also we got a great deal, got an apartment at club sultan fo 15 nights for £180, and flights for £130 each using XL. so for 15 nights with transfer we are going for less than £550, it wasn't as cheap as that in 2001 when i first went.

travelling 11th may to 26th may, whats the weather like at that time of year, i normally go october.

Hi glad you got a good bargain. As to the weather in May have been twice around the 12th to 15th May and weather has been really good. Last year we went on the 15th and the week was exceptionally hot. It was lovely. Hoping for more of the same this year, although not booked flights yet, toss up between Bitez and Dalyan this year. Not made our minds up yet.

Just beginning to wonder if Bitez can cope - not with me, of course, but with 'Sir'! :roll:

Last year for the first time I can think of, he wasn't ready to come home so we are trying an extended stay to see how it goes. Wish me luck!!

We have booked the Kassandra - it is used a lot by Irish companies and we know some people who have stayed there previously. Reports seem to be 50/50 split, so I think it may be a case of what you are expecting. As I have always said, if the hotel is rubbish I am sure I can always find somewhere to sleep in Bitez (not too sure about 'Sir' though - he may end up on the beach!!).

Bibbs - will help with passing the hat (does that come under the off-side rule??!!!) and I will offer to look after the xxxxx's that dare not speak their name if you do get enough donations. :rofl

That's the one, Marn - always advertises an Irish breakfast?! Just need a bed, a shower and a little sustenance and all will be well. Booked H/B as it worked out cheaper than SC for just the two of us but will still eat out some (if not most) of the time. Will never starve in Bitez! When are you planning on going? I seem to remember that you have a week at the Manuela some time at the beginning of the summer.

Hi Pat, we are hoping to have our free week at the Manuela in October.

In May we are staying for 2 weeks HB at the Ayaz Hotel inGumbet.
Like you, it was cheaper to go HB, and the Hotel has good reviews.
Just hope we get along with Gumbet. It shouldn't be too noisy in May. The hotel is on the beach, not in the centre of town.

Maverick - I am hoping that we will have a good summer here in England and that by the time I go to Turkey in September I will have started on my tan. Old age has it's rewards, you know - no children to worry about school dates for, 'Sir' retired, me semi-retired so don't care if the boss sacks me for staying away and just enough money in the bank to be able to afford it especially if we DIY. Not bad for an old trout with a big hat! :rofl

Marn - you must let me know how you get on with Gumbet. Passed through and once went to a 'ladies luncheon' or something with Turkish friends but have never fancied staying there.

Maverick - the idea of another week early on is tempting but I think the Bank Manager (and "Sir") would consider that a step too far! Still, I can dream. Do you have any plans yet?

i cant tell you as it would be tottally unfair but i spend nearly 3 months a year in hisaronu more if i can get away with it

Must say it wouldn't be my first choice - but, hey, you don't know 'til you try and Marn may have found a good hotel that makes the visit worthwhile. I am willing to give anywhere a go at least once. Do remember your problems with the jewellers and I understand how it must have coloured your attitude to the whole place.

May see you in Bitez later in the year.

i'm all booked up too for two weeks in may in gumbet. went to gumbet last in june 05 and thoroughly enjoyed it. hoping to go on a boat trip for the the first time this year possibly to kos from bodrum.
