Hi, I need advice on holidaying in peurto rico with 2 children, age 5 and 11 for May 07.
We went on our honeymoon over 12 years ago and loved it but times change.
I am looking for good accommodation, it doesnt matter if it is at the top or bottom of the resort but dont want it anywhere to noisy, we would preferably like something with evening entertainment for kids, especially the 5 yr old . (possibly self catering apartments)
Does the resort have things for the kids ie go karts, trampolines etc, the sort of things you find in Majorca, we have been to alcudia 4 times and fancy a change but needs to be child friendly.
thanks and any advice is appreciated, websites etc
I would suggest either the Eden aparments or the Riosol apts at the top of the hill or my Favourite the Terraza Mar Sunsuites which are located at the bottom. All have a Kids club and evening entertainment. As for trampolines you will get these at the top or bottom and there are also gokarts at the bottom too.I have been to the Terraza Mar for the last 2 years with my kids who are 4 + 9 and they loved it.If you need any more info then just ask.
I liked Puerto rico but just round the corner is the new resort of Amadores - stayed there at the Mirador del Atlantico and was a cracking set up. Good quality apartments with loads on for kids through the day and evening, nice pools and jacuzzi, very close to beach and easy and cheap for taxis into PR (about 1.5 / 2 €). If you think about PR having most hotels built on to the hillside you will need taxis to get to the beach and the 2 centers so Amadores will be better for you - it is also a very quiet resort with no noisy bars, just good restaurants which cater very well for kids. The beach is man made but very clean and safe for the young ones - hope this helps.
Went back 2 yrs ago with my son and neices and we had a fab time we stayed in the riosol that time, we booked it direct http://www.aparthotelriosol.com and booked flight only it was so much cheaper and we pre booked a taxi from the airport (not sure if i can say on here where i booked that but if you want to know PM me)
Just booked for Feb and we are staying at the Eden with Thomson i was booking a package with Thomson but then i priced a flight only with Thomson and accomodation only with thomson at the Eden still and saved over £200 on a weeks hol in Feb so i would recommend you try that and again i booked my return taxi from the airport for 90euros.......no hassle waiting for a coach!!!
This time i have 2 sons age 6yrs and 18months and i think the top is excellent for familys and taxis are cheap enough to the bottom, the new beach at amadores is beautiful, we walked it from the top and taxi back.
Have a good tim wherever you go
Vicky
thanks for all the above information, it has been so helpful
If you're still wanting to go to Gran Canaria but unsure of which resort is suitable for you then have a read through our resort reports as they may help by
Marina Suites is a lovely hotel to go to, especially if you have children. We stayed there last November with our 3 month old baby and it was ideal because it was on the flat down by the marina......... you didnt have to deal with hilly climbs. Its also close the main commercial centre, only a 10 min walk, but in the near by area there are plenty of bars and restuarants. Plus the boat to Mogan is only across the carpark from the hotel and is good for children, its short journey and they can go beneath the boat where it is glass bottomed. Mogan is a nice town to go to and on a market day would entertain the children as there were a few street performers. Also this boat journey isnt expensive and lollies are handed out on the journey over and back and sangria for the adults
We have been before many years ago when our children were small but while we were staying in Mogan in Septenber we went and had a look.
It is ideal for children .
I think with small children it is a better area than the lower Shopping centre.
